“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
— Eleanor Roosevelt
I am Cadet Ayush Singh Rathore from Rashtriya Military School Bangalore, originally from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. With an Army background, joining the Defence Forces was always my aspiration, but my passion became even stronger after joining RMS Bangalore. Seven years of boarding life gave me ample opportunities in sports and co-curricular activities, developing my overall personality. Frequent visits by seniors and officers in uniform turned my spark into a flame, constantly motivating me to pursue my dream.
I always performed well academically, which helped me clear the NDA written exam on my first attempt. Following the advice of my seniors, I joined Georgians Defence Academy for Professional Studies (GDA) for SSB preparation along with my classmates.
What I liked most about GDA is that they don’t impose their views—they help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, encourage you to polish your strengths, and work on your weak points. Daily lectures and group discussions, infused with current affairs, honed my communication skills and made my speech confident and clear. Regular feedback from KP Sir and Deepak Sir after every activity helped me correct my mistakes. The individual attention given to every student during those 15 days was truly the best part.
After returning to school, I continued practicing what I learned at the academy. My hard work finally paid off, and I was recommended from SSB Centre Bhopal in my maiden attempt.
The alternative to hard work is yet to be found. Work hard and leave no stone unturned.
My advice: The moment you enter the SSB centre, the ball is in your court. Play it wisely.
Believe in yourself—nothing is impossible.
Jai Hind.
