Union Health Minister Nadda reviews India’s preparedness for monkeypox
- With the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring monkeypox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), a detailed review of developments related to monkeypox, and preparedness for it, was taken up by the Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda in a meeting with senior officials.“There are no reported cases of monkeypox in India as of date,” the Ministry said.

ISRO successfully launches EOS-08 Earth Observation Satellite
- The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the EOS-08 Earth Observation Satellite onboard the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-D3 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
- The SSLV-D3, in its third and final development flight, lifted off from the first launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 9.17 am.

Indonesia holds unfinished future capital Nusantara’s first Independence Day ceremony
- Indonesia marked 79 years of independence on with a ceremony in the unfinished future capital of Nusantara, which was planned to relieve pressure on Jakarta but whose construction has lagged behind schedule.
- Hundreds of officials and invited guests wearing the traditional clothes of Indonesian tribes gathered on a stretch of grass amid the ongoing construction of government buildings and and view of construction cranes in the centre of the Nusantara city.

- The caretaker government in Bangladesh is committed to ensuring a transition to inclusive and pluralistic democracy and creating an environment in which "free, fair and participatory elections" can be held, its head Mohammad Yunus assured the international community.
- Mr. Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, said while addressing the third Voice of Global South Summit which was hosted by India in a virtual format.
