“Victory loves perfection and preparation.”

Hello everyone,

I am Cadet Dheeraj Dimathia of Rashtriya Military School Bangalore (2013-2020), and I’d like to share my journey to SSB recommendation with you all.

I hail from Jammu, J&K, and have been raised in a proud Army family—my father has served the Indian Army for 30 years. Like many Army brats, discipline and ethos have been a part of my life since childhood. My early years were spent in various Army Public Schools, but everything changed in Class 5 when a Georgian introduced my father to Rashtriya Military School. The excitement of hostel life drew me in, and I joined RMS Bangalore in Class 6—a decision that shaped my entire personality and future.

RMS Bangalore is much more than just a school; it’s a feeder institution to the NDA, fostering discipline, responsibility, adaptability, and camaraderie among cadets. The environment there gave me not just a solid foundation for my aim, but also a family for life. The Georgian spirit is a feeling of unity and belonging, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

When Class 12 arrived, the final round of preparation began—mock tests, brainstorming with batchmates, and last-minute revision sessions. I learned that while hard work is important, smart work is essential. We focused on planning ahead and simulating exam scenarios to be ready for the real thing.

After clearing the NDA written exam, our school brought in mentors to brief us about the SSB process. Many of us, including myself, joined Georgians Defence Academy for Professional Studies for SSB guidance. Those days were incredibly productive, with advice and mentorship from our own school seniors, making the experience even more valuable.

When the SSB at Selection Centre Central, 21 SSB Bhopal arrived, I was confident but naturally a bit anxious. With motivation from friends and a focus on giving my best, I embraced the process. The 5-day journey was filled with learning, new bonds, and unforgettable memories. On 7th February 2020, I was recommended for NDA 144 in my first attempt, and later cleared my medicals too.

A valuable lesson I learned is that SSB is just another exam—prepare for it like you would for anything else. Self-insight and revision are key. As one officer said at the SSB: “You prepare for every exam in your life, so why not for SSB?”

Tips for Defence Aspirants:

  • Be confident and have faith in yourself.
  • Never hesitate to learn from anyone.
  • Remember your motivation for joining—it will keep you going.
  • Stay well-informed, especially about your chosen profession.
  • Plan ahead and be prepared; it enhances your personality.
  • Take pride in your journey, and always keep a cheerful attitude—smile!

I’m grateful to my parents, batchmates, teachers, and especially to K.P. Sir and the team for their support and guidance.

Take pride in how far you have come, and have faith in how far you can go!

All the best and Jai Hind!
