A Day of Honour, Legacy, and New Beginnings
Today marks a proud milestone for all of us at Georgians Defence Academy. The Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, witnessed a magnificent Passing Out Parade (POP) for the Spring Term 2025, where 451 gentleman cadets — including 32 cadets from nine friendly nations — stepped confidently into the next chapter of their lives as commissioned officers.
Among these exemplary young leaders, we are overjoyed to celebrate our very own: Cadet Anni Nehra, Cadet Jai Chauhan, Cadet Rohit Kumar, Cadet Satyam Kumar Singh, Cadet Anshal, Cadet Harsh Pratap Singh, Cadet Priyanshu Pandey, Cadet Anurag Verma, Cadet Ajay Maan, and Cadet Rajeev Rai. Your relentless dedication, hard work, and unwavering spirit have brought you here — you make us immensely proud!
A Homecoming Filled with Emotion
This year’s parade was made even more memorable by the presence of a distinguished guest: Lieutenant General BKGM Lasantha Rodrigo, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, who returned to his alma mater, IMA, exactly 30 years after his own commissioning. Standing before the iconic Chetwode Building, he reflected on his journey, saying:
“Deeply honoured and moved to tears.”
His presence was a powerful reminder that the bonds forged within these hallowed grounds transcend borders, cultures, and generations.
Lieutenant General Rodrigo left the young officers with a timeless piece of advice:
“You will not only wear a rank but embrace a new way of life with three unshakable responsibilities: first to the Nation, second to the Soldiers, and third to the Bravehearts and their families.”
The Chetwode Creed: A Timeless Guiding Light
As our cadets marched proudly past the historic Chetwode Building, they embodied the immortal words of the Chetwode Creed:
The safety, honour, and welfare of your country come first, always and every time.
The honour, welfare, and comfort of the men you command come next.
Your own ease, comfort, and safety come last, always and every time.
These sacred principles are not just words etched in stone — they are a way of life. They represent a solemn pledge to serve with integrity, courage, and selflessness.
Celebrating Our Heroes
At Georgians Defence Academy, we take immense pride in seeing our cadets transform from aspiring students to inspiring officers. Each of you stands as a beacon of discipline, courage, and commitment — lighting the path for every young dreamer who wishes to don the uniform.
