Project Seabird infrastructure inaugurated at Karwar

On 9 October, Chief of Defence Staff General N. S. Raja Subramani and the Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs inaugurated infrastructure facilities under Project Seabird Phase IIA at Karwar, Karnataka. The facilities include utility systems, amenities and residential accommodation for naval personnel. The expansion aims to strengthen naval support facilities and increase operational capacity at INS Kadamba.
Indigenous anti-submarine warfare vessel Mangrol
The Indian Navy announced that its indigenously built anti-submarine warfare shallow-water craft, Mangrol, was set to be commissioned. The vessel forms part of India's efforts to strengthen coastal security and develop indigenous naval capabilities.
Shipbuilding infrastructure strengthened at Visakhapatnam
On 6 October, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched the Indian Navy's first Fleet Support Ship, Surya, at Hindustan Shipyard Limited in Visakhapatnam. The event also included the keel-laying ceremony for the fifth Fleet Support Ship and the inauguration of an upgraded slipway and a 300-tonne Goliath crane.
These facilities are intended to improve the shipyard's ability to construct larger vessels and support India's indigenous naval shipbuilding programme.
