  1. India to host 2nd Asia Pacific Ministerial conference on civil aviation
    • India will host the second Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on civil aviation on September 11 and 12.
    • The first conference was organized in February 2018 in Beijing.
    • As many as 39 Member States of U.N. aviation safety body International Civil Aviation Organization fall in the Asia Pacific region and are expected to participate.
  2. India and Russia have doubled rupee-ruble payments in 2024, says largest Russian bank
    • India and Russia have doubled their payments in national currencies (rupee-ruble) since last year despite sanctions by the U.S. and European Union, said Russia’s largest, statecontrolled bank Sberbank that handles a majority of payments for Indian exports to Russia.
    • The surge may rise further after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Moscow last week, economists and Indian businessmen working in Russia hope, warning that in the absence of the Indian rupee, Chinese businesses and the yuan would continue to benefit from the “vacuum” created by the exit of Western companies.
  3. ICAR to launch ‘one scientist, one product’ scheme
    • The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will launch its ‘One Scientist-One Product’ programme on July 16 to improve research in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry.
    • It will also formally announce the release of 323 varieties of 56 crops, including cereals, oilseeds, forage crops, and sugarcane, at a function in Delhi as part of the 96th foundation day of the institution. These crops include 289 climate-resilient varieties and 27 bio-fortified varieties.

  1. Azerbaijan reopens its embassy in Iran as the countries try to ease tensions
    • The embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran resumed its work after more than a year of negotiations between the two countries to ease tensions, media reports said.
    • The reports said that it had resumed operations but the formal announcement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry was still pending. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the person wasn't allowed to discuss the matter publicly.
  2. Russian Army marches on 'Made in Bihar' boots manufactured in Hajipur
    • As the Russian Army continues its operation in Ukraine, the soldiers march on using 'Made in Bihar' boots manufactured in Hajipur.
    • Bihar's Hajipur city, known for its agricultural production, is writing its own story by manufacturing safety shoes for the Russian army, which has an acclaimed international presence.
    • Hajipur-based Competence Exports, a private limited company, makes safety shoes for companies based in Russia and designer shoes catering to European markets.
  3. China's covert 6th fighter jet program
    • China's development of a sixth-generation fighter jet is progressing rapidly. While details remain shrouded in secrecy, evidence indicates significant advancements, suggesting a readiness goal by 2035. This development comes as the US Air Force questions the expense of its own Next Generation Air Dominance fighter program, contrasting sharply with China's apparent determination.
    • Sixth-generation fighters are still in development worldwide, featuring potential capabilities such as stealth, variable-cycle engines, advanced human-systems integration, optional manning, and cutting-edge digital capabilities including AI and cyber warfare.
