1. MoPR Launches 'Nirbhay Chetna' National Initiative

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) rolled out "Nirbhay Chetna: Leadership through Equality", a massive grassroots social transformation initiative funded through the Nirbhaya Fund.

• The Campaign Framework: This is a core component of the broader 'Nirbhay Raho' campaign launched earlier this year. It stands alongside two other distinct pillars: Nirbhay Netri (providing legal and leadership literacy to female representatives) and Nirbhay Drishti (installing technology-driven CCTV safety infrastructure in rural hotspots).
• The Target Group: Notably, Nirbhay Chetna is designed specifically as a structured gender-sensitization drive targeting over 17.5 lakh male elected representatives (Sarpanches, Mukhiyas, and Ward Members) to actively engage them as frontline allies in advancing women's safety, dignity, and rights.
• Implementation: Supported by Transform Rural India (TRI) as the module development partner and NLSIU Bengaluru as the knowledge partner, the program is setting up a sprawling cascade network of 28,500 master trainers down to the block level.

2. India Hosts the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting in Haryana

On June 25, 2026, India successfully hosted the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting in Gurugram, Haryana, under its BRICS Chairship for 2026.

• Theme & Focus: Organised by the Union Ministry of Power under the overarching theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability", India chose "सर्वेषां ऊर्जम्" (Energy for All) as the central vision for its energy track.
