1. 7th Edition of Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Trophy
The 7th edition of the Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament 2026 officially kicked off on June 23, 2026.
- The Venue: Organized by the Air Force Sports Control Board, the prestigious national tournament is being held at Air Force Station Jalahalli in Bengaluru, Karnataka. This is the first time the tournament has moved to Bengaluru to promote hockey across wider demographics.
- The Competition: A total of 16 elite domestic teams (representing the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Railways, and various states) are competing. The opening clash saw the Indian Air Force defeat the Indian Army Southern Command 2–0.
- Record Prize Money: In a massive push to elevate the event's stature, the total prize pool has been significantly hiked to ₹26.75 lakh. The winning team will take home ₹10 lakh (up from ₹3 lakh), and the runners-up will secure ₹8 lakh.
2. India’s First 3D-Printed Artificial Reef Modules in Ramanathapuram
Under Phase II of the flagship Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), India is deploying its first-ever 3D-printed artificial reef modules off the coast of Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu.
- The Collaboration: The project is a major technological breakthrough developed by Tvasta (a cutting-edge 3D-printing startup incubated at IIT Madras) in scientific collaboration with the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI).
- Design Advantage: Traditional artificial reefs are simple, heavy concrete blocks. These new 3D-printed modules weigh about one tonne each but are designed without iron reinforcement. Instead, they feature hyper-complex, highly porous shapes full of custom nooks and crannies.
- Ecological Impact: This porous, non-iron surface makes it significantly easier for natural corals, marine sponges, and macroalgae to attach and grow. Placed about two nautical miles offshore, the pilot project evaluates six distinct geometric designs to maximize fish populations, rebuild damaged marine food chains, and protect local biodiversity.
3. Bengaluru Airport Ranked World's 3rd Most Family-Friendly Airport
A comprehensive global travel study released by AttractionTickets.com has ranked Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) as the 3rd most family-friendly airport in the world for transit passengers.
- The Global Leaderboard: Finland's Helsinki-Vantaa Airport secured the top spot globally, with Singapore’s Changi Airport finishing second, and Bengaluru’s KIA locking in third place with a stellar score of 18.6 out of 20.
- India's Double Win: India dominated the upper echelon of the index, as Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) closely followed KIA to claim the 4th spot globally.
- The Strict Criteria: Experts analyzed over 140 major airports worldwide across nine metrics, including Google review ratings, children’s play amenities, dedicated family security lanes, baby-care infrastructure, stroller availability, and streaming-quality Wi-Fi.
- Neurodivergent Support: A massive differentiator that pushed Bengaluru to the top was its specialized, inclusive infrastructure—most notably India’s first airport sensory room, tailored specifically to soothe and support neurodivergent travelers and families navigating sensory overload.
